Ah, Sunday afternoon—the perfect blend of reflection and anticipation. It's my favourite time of the week. A chance to glance back, map out what's ahead, and get yourself pumped for what’s coming.
Here's the scoop: I spend a little time reading, a lot of time writing (because hey, writing is thinking, and I'm all about levelling up my brain power). Then, I hang with the fam, sit down with my partner, and we map out our week together. Need-to-do's, nice-to-do's, and never-mind's—as a family, we cover it all.
But here's where the magic happens—I've got five questions I ask myself. Sometimes I jot them down, sometimes they're just buzzing around in my head. But when I want to really nail them, I take the time to put pen to paper. Here they are:
What will I do intentionally to develop myself this week?
What will I do intentionally to develop my people this week?
What will I do intentionally to grow my business this week?
What will I do intentionally to improve my business this week?
What will I do intentionally to nurture a better relationship with 'x' person this week?
Boom.
That's the secret sauce right there.
When I've got these five things dialled in each week with intention, my goals are well and truly on their way! Combine that with a daily dose of reading my goals and pumping myself up with positive self-instruction, and I feel unstoppable.
Now, let's talk about "self-instruction." Ever heard of it? It's what I'm saying to myself throughout the day as I tackle projects and navigate challenges. Most people don't stop to think about it, but trust me—it's a game-changer.
Some people's self-instruction sounds like a broken record of doubt and negativity:
"I better not try that."
"If I miss the next one, I give up."
"What if I ask and they say no?!"
But me? I've turned my self-instruction into a superpower. Here's a peek inside my mind:
"Today, I'll meet the right people in the right place at the right time for the betterment of all."
"People like me. It's amazing, but nearly everyone I meet really likes me, and I really like them too."
"I always prepare thoroughly for every important thing I do. This is why I always expect to win and accomplish so much."
Sounds prideful? Maybe. But why not be nice to ourselves in a self-instructed kinda way that feeds our minds all the positives we need to conquer life's challenges?
So, consider this your personal share Sunday. I'm giving you a piece of me so you can replicate what you find relevant and helpful. Because here's the truth: Everyone wants to know what to DO, but few realise it's more about how you THINK if you want to really develop your life.
So, let's build our minds and protect them from the 99% who have decided they'd rather decrease what they want than increase who they are!
Here's to intentional thinking and unstoppable growth. Let's make this week one for the books!
